Paint is the GREAT equalizer. Make no mistake it will make you feel better when it's DONE!
We are on the tightest budget. But I just couldn't take it anymore. The folks we bought our latest home from had 3 small children AND she also ran a daycare business. (Don't get me wrong! I LOVE kids - Grandma to 7 of them) But they DO bang up walls. So it has been almost 3 years and was time for paint! Only one room left...and the deck to stain again..but that's ANOTHER post!
Not the color I wanted!
First things first....EVERYTHING down and out! If you try and work around stuff...IT WILL take longer!
Uck..lavender AND blue... Holes??? Patch those bad boys up! Dap filler is great. Make sure you do a light sand after it dries. CEILING 1st - always do the ceiling 1st in case paint drips. Then the upper walls..then the lower. Trim is last. And anymore I dont tape. I have found my hand steady and with the shorty angle brush I just dont waste my time.
Went with a two tone of grey's...blue undertones. VERY important that you see the colors under different lighting. It may look grey in the pic..but when the curtains are down and full light hits it you can really see the blues.
Keep on goin!
So the next room up was hideous tan and blue...Same thing. Patch and fill where needed. I also caulked where the trim was to close any gaps.
As you can see..its the SAME color on the top half..yet the bottom color is darker, WHAT a difference.
So all I REALLY have left are the closet doors. What a difference a little paint can make. It took me 3 days for each room. Around $80 in paint...
Handy working tip - IF you are changing your flooring (I am as soon as I win the lotto) PAINT 1st.....That way if you do indeed spill paint...its on the old stuff!
And no.....Im STILL not done. As I write I am waiting for trim to dry. I get going and on to the next. If you REALLy want to "know" your house....Paint it. You will know every crack and crevice! Questions??? Go ahead and ask away

Lovely job Jen! Beautiful colour combination would you think of now painting your doors a closer colour tone to your walls? Just a thought think it would draw the whole colour together. I know a fair few pieces of your furniture match with your doors but thought it would look stunning.

Your walls look amazing. I’m doing something very similar to my living room, except I’m using 2 shades of blue. Did you put a trim board in the middle or paint the stripe. I’m gonna try blending my colors in the middle with a wire brush. I blended 2 colors on a project a long time ago, with a wire brush & it turned out pretty good. If it doesn’t look good on the wall I can always paint over it.

Great job! Just remember, when on a tight budget look at the big box stores' Oops! paint. You can get some great deals on paint, especially when redoing a bedroom or small bathroom!
