Try putting household ammonia on a rag, place in a Ziploc bag, cut the corner off and then place the bag in the entrance of the holes. The ammonia will spread throughout the tunnels and they should scatter.

I like the ammonia idea. Years ago I had an issue with moles and I tried the sonic sticks. Unfortunately their tunneling was mature enough that it didn't make any difference. So with no recourse, I turned to toxic smoke. They're called mole gassers. As i recall, you light one and place it inside an entrance to the burrow. Using a shop vac, blow the smoke into the tunnel system noting where else its coming out of the ground, because these smoke streams represent other tunnel doors. Plug those with rags, until the only opening is where the smoke is going in forced by the shop vac. Keep blowing until the smoke is used up, then close this entrance with rags. The suffocation is quick, and I never had another issue with moles. Maybe the smoke leaves an odor in the ground, don't know. But never saw any more moles.

The size of the bumps in the ground should tell you if they are moles or gophers. Mole bumps are small, gopher bumps are more like, "WTF ?"
