Advise on the white studs for the hurricane fabric on the side

Help please! My husband put up the studs for our hurricane fabric and it’s an eye sore! Yes I can paint it but it is still an eyesore when you get closer as it sticks out and open the door. I can’t stand it!
It was fine at Christmas time with the decorations but now it’s over-What can I do?

  • While I see our point, you must go with safety over beauty sometimes. It wouldn't bother me, but it is not my house, it is yours and you need to be happy! How about adding some sort of seasonal decor to hide it? How about making some sort of permanent garland? Or lighted garland?

Would a large piece of moulding cover the studs. Try looking at some specialty wood stores, not HD or Lowes.

I thought I replied to your suggestion but I don’t see it. I want to thank you for your help. That would be a good idea. The studs stick out about 1 1/2 ” and have another inch to play with without bumping into the trim of the door. I just need to find the right wood.

      Thanks!

hmmm that would be a good idea. It’s

1 1/2” sticking out and I have another inch to play with to the border of the door. Now to look for it.

    thanks!

I'm not an expert about this subject but I just read up a little about hurricane fabric. I'm assuming you're talking about the little white hooks that stick out on the side of your door? If so, what if you painted everything the same color? That might help. What do your neighbors do to hide theirs? I thought about molding as well, but in a situation where you need them, you would want to be able to get at them quickly. Even though they are there, it shows you as being a responsible person who is protecting your home and would be a selling point for the future.

I agree with you. They are an eyesore! I do not think anything will make them look better. Remove them.

with the increasing frequency of these storms and the increasing power of them, this will lower insurance costs, and provide protection for the home. I would learn to live with them. I am sure your neighbors will be joining in on the trend.

If you absolutely hate them, I would hang a garland over/around the door.

    Thanks all for the advice!

I have put seasonal garland in the past but there are times that I couldn’t keep up and forget as I get so busy and travel a lot.

I like the idea of a boxed narrow moulding but would have to think creatively to attach and remove them easily. So for now, I’ll put grapevine twine.

On a positive note, it has lowered our insurance ..So one is eye is sore lol

I have too many ideas, so many projects, a honey do list that’s turned into a book and so little time lol it’ll get done eventually!

I don't think anyone would notice it the way you do.
