Buy trim molding you like and attach it directly to the wall using panel nails If you're framing a poster, print, photo etc. attach it to the wall first.

I'm not crafty but made square wreaths for Xmas or any season. You use what you have on hand. Check You Tube videos.

Hang on the wall and hang something you want to accent inside. (Small plaque, arrangement of smaller items, etc.) Paint frame as you like. You could also get a piece of wood cut to fit it and screw cup hooks or nails into it and use it for keys or rings or belts or pet leashes, etc. Another idea would be to find a piece of fabric that matches or picks up colors of your room and "frame" it. (For this I have even cut up a cardboard box and taped or glued the fabric to it to fit into the frame.) This can tie an accent color into a room--especially if hung on a wall that "needs something." So many possibilities!
