  • Without a photo, my gut tells me to paint the wall behind it. Plus that is the easy paint job of the two options.

You can paint the tv unit a coordinated color. That’s much easier than painting a whole wall and easier to change as you want too!

Put a frame around the set.

I would paint the wall an accent color.

Painting the wall an accent color would be the easiest thing. Is that wall where your TV is a cutout space that goes deeper than the rest of the wall? If so you could do some type of lightly whitewashed faux brick wall panel and nail it into the space.

There's a lot of white in that room. That indented area behind the TV stand is a perfect area for an accent color. Much easier too than removing hardware and doors, sanding, priming and painting the stand.

Take a color from a pillow, rug or artwork you have in the room or will be using in the room. Doesn't have to be the main color of the piece either.

Grey's are the new white/beige but it depends on the rest of your decor

    Hello,

Without seeing your entire living room here are some suggestions 😁

I would paint the cove a pale gray, if that fits your color scheme or a muted color of your choice. Your tv viewing will be better too. Do not use a shiny paint either.

Another option is to wallpaper the cove area, again not using a shiny paper. It will add to your design style without being overwhelming and add some character to your room.

‘I would also update your unit - I would just change out the hardware, easy update knobs and pulls. Amazon has beautiful ones to choose from at great prices - along with changing the wall color.

There will be a lot of dead space above your tv - I would put and old window frame above it or a shelf with some decorative things on it, nothing that jumps out at you to distract from tv viewing, but something to help blend the tv in.

Black and white (grayscale) framed photos. With black frames white mattes would be beautiful too above the tv.

I would refinish the TV unit

I would build a pedestal for the bottom of that TV unit to bring the height of the black top even with the top of the fireplace firebox to bring symmetry to the wall You could add some drawers in it for more storage or leave it open to store firewood.

An alternate would be to paint that recess black, maybe a black pearl, and just hang the tv in there. skip the white piece and repurpose it elsewhere.

I would paint just the wall behind the cabinet an accent color, a few shades darker than the rest of the wall.

    Hello there,

Paint! The wall behind the unit and colour in the inside of the front of doors and drawers. Paint the whole lot in Chalk paint and then Antique Wax. Also edge around the tiles and frame to the side with colour too.

Hi Sneha, the easiest and perhaps great solution is to paint the wall in an accent color that works well with the rest of your room decor....probably one that you already really love. Then the TV unit will contrast with the newly painted wall. Easy peasy!

I would chalk paint the unit. The room needs a little color. No prep work, two coats, fast dry time.

It's really a personal preference thing. Which would you rather paint? I personally think the entertainment center would look great painted a navy blue or black.
