The bed in my guest bedroom needed a headboard but not just any headboard would do.
I purchased a twin bed for my guest bedroom many years ago but never purchased a headboard. It really made the room look unfinished.
A trip to the plumbing aisle solved my problem! I wanted something that was unconventional with an industrial feel and I knew I could find what I was looking for here. I purchased three 3/4” conduit (which was on clearance :) and a few pipe fittings.
Of course before I left I measured, from the floor to where I wanted the top of the headboard to hit, so I knew how much conduit I would need.
I wanted the sides to be 40” so I measure the pipe and marked the measurement with a piece of painter’s tape.
I purchased a pipe cutter - really any reason to buy a new tool is okay with me - and cut the pipe at the measurement.
A-I purchased four conduit brackets and attached those to the bedframe using a nut, washer and bolt.
B-I slid the conduit pipe into the brackets and secured them by tightening the bolts
C- I placed a flange on the floor and slid the pipe into the flang to hold it in place.
I did this on both sides of the bedframe.
I slid a galvanized “T” onto each side and tightened them at the height of the mattress.
I added a conduit clamp to the top of my pipe and added an elbow, & another conduit clamp.
I did the same thing on the other side.
Then I attached it together with a piece of pipe cut to size.
I didn’t like the look of an open headboard so I purchased grass cord and wove it up and down the headboard.
I also added some ribbon that I had on hand to give it some color and a unique look that I love.
Now my room looks like finished with the addition of my new headboard.
