Francis, here is some info

To make mulch out of fallen leaves, turn to your trusty lawnmower for shredding power—without it, they're bound to blow away. Rake them into piles and run over them several times with the mower. (To beef up leaf mulch, you can mix in grass clippings before chopping with the mower.)

I bought a small wood chipper and make my own mulch chipping up small branches. Do you mean compost, perhaps?

I mulch my garden in the fall with shredded leaves we get from using our shredder/vacuum/blower. I use some of the left over when I start my garden of veggies in the spring after I till everything in. Once we start mowing the grass I use the grass clippings each time we mow. I do have a pile that I keep with the leftovers that I don't use in the garden and let it decompose like compost. Good luck!

This is basic and I am not a pro. Look on line for really great ideas. Last summer I planted cucumber plants in a straw bale; 2 plants. I reiterate, straw, not hay Because of a plethora of wed seeds in hay. I first had to condition the bale. I made two holes and used blood meal and good organic feetilizers. All this to say it was the most lovely rotten mess internally and grew plenry of cukes. But, the end result was a fantastic mulch on the inside I incorprated with potting soil and garden soil and shredded newspaper and it's happily breaking down through the winter. I hope this gives you some hints. Just never use vegetable scraps to which seasonings or oils have need added. Hope this gets you a step forward.

We are composting chicken poop, fir shavings and leaves in a tumbler. That is a round object about the size of a 50 gallon barrell. Check out online for videos regarding this.
