This works great. I've done this and used magnetic rods at the top and bottom of the curtain. One suggestion is to glue neodymium magnets to the magnets that come with the rod. This will ensure that the rod stays in place.

there is a spray to apply or you could cover with modge podge and lace. Lowes or Home Depot have the sprays. Check with craft store for an idea on covering the Windows

You can go to Amazon and look at Privacy Window Film. Some are peel and stick, or some are static cling types that adhere by misting water on the glass and applying the film. They also have curtains that hang by rods. If you have a metal door you can drill the rod holders as long as you're sure you will keep the curtains up forever, or some use the magnetic rods. With the Window Film, you always have the light coming thru the windows, but no one can see into your home.

    What about blinds ?

I've used a spray purchased at Michael's, UV-Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating, matte finish. It allows light in. You can spray it to whatever thickness you desire. I also used it to create the illusion of a frame around an over-sized mirror in a bathroom.

Easiest solution in my opinion is Gallery Glass a liquid applied directly to the glass that dries transparent, translucent, or opaque depending on the color and technique you choose. Photo is a good example of this. I have two doors and a shoe cabinet with GG to make them opaque and they have been doing just fine for at least ten years now. It is also very inexpensive. I bought a small bottle of the crystal clear (it comes in many colors) and simply swirled it onto the inside of the window with my fingers (no pattern). It 's made by Plaid and can be easily removed if you want to change.

I have a curtain on my back door. I want to be able to see who is at the door. The sprays may prevent that.

A creative way my sister accomplished this was to crochet a panel to hang over her window.
