An old farmer from Iowa told us to put a quart or so of old auto oil over in a bucket of sand and stir well. Then he said to push the tools in and out until the light rust was gone. Then he said to do it every time we finished using the tool. If the rust is deep, you may need to replace the tool. If it is cosmetic this will repair and keep it rust free. Hope this helps.
