Does anyone save or repurpose the tinsel from a Christmas tree?

I always save mine.

If you cannot save for reuse on the tree next year, it is somewhat less useful than used plastic wrap.

I have saved it by taking it off strand by strand and hanging it smoothly over my hand then moving it to a piece of cardboard (this was when I was starving college student. However, my sister turned me on to using curling ribbon rather than tinsel on my tree. It really adds a warm, old fashioned feel, and the ribbon can just be stashed in a plastic bag to use the next year.

You can put it in a basket as filler for gift baskets.

Or just leave it on the tree for next year.

Wrap the tinsel around a piece of cardboard and put into a large plastic bag, place in your ornament box for next year.

Collect it in neat strands and store it for use next year. Take a small piece of cardboard to hang the tinsel over, then secure with a loose ribbon or string so it doesn't become dented. Place the strands in a zip-top bag and you'll be all set for bringing back this tradition for many years to come.

I haven't used it in years, but I never saved it.
