Rustoleum makes paint for cabinet. I love white and light grey. I have the same backsplash :)

I would paint them an off white colour if you’d like a lighter look, or do a dark grey on the bottom cupboards and a pale grey on the top (matching the colours in the floor and backsplash) for a more dramatic look

Hi Eve. Removing the doors and hardware from the cabinets makes it a lot easier to paint. You will want to make sure they are cleaned well. The next step is to prime them and last paint. I would go with a white if you want to paint them. It would brighten the area up.

You can't use white - it will be "off." Use a cream color for the cabs (tops and Bottoms). Your kitchen has way too many textures (floor, counter, splash) for you to go with two colors. Because the cabs are so plain, create a template for some "jewelry" and install brushed nickel drawer pulls. This will be beautiful. Please send your finished project.

I would paint them two tone. One color for all would get lose the countertop and backsplash. Choose a medium tone from the countertop for the lower cabinets and a lighter tone from the backsplash for the upper cabinets. You can get some paint swatches and tape them on the cabinets and see what appeals to you.

Now for the prep work.

Make sure they are clean and dry. Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand the doors and cabinets to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint with 120- to 220-grit sandpaper. Use a tack cloth or damp rag to remove dust after sanding. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123, KILZ,or BIN and have it tinted to the color of the top coat. This will prevent dark or stained surfaces from showing through the top coat. Acrylic, or water-base, paints are low-fume and clean up easily with water. Alkyd, or oil-base, paints require good ventilation because the paint contains solvents that can irritate your lungs and make you feel sick. Alkyd options require mineral spirits for cleanup, but they provide a hard, durable paint finish. Whichever you use, buy the best-quality paint you can afford for a lasting kitchen cabinet finish. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish.

Paint with chalk paint. This eliminates sanding and priming. Clean with crud klutter first. Remove hardware, put in ziploc and label to which cabinet it goes to. Chalk paint, off white.

That's a lot of brown or at least my screen is showing it that way. A white or off white would brighten the room and make it look much fresher. Add some nice handles and knobs, silver toned to brighten it further. Proper prepping will make all the difference. You could paint the island a different color for more interest.

I would paint them cream or very light sand colour,it will bring so much more light to your kitchen.
