Do you know a Disney enthusiast? I sure do, my son. But, I didn't know how popular Disney theme home decor was until I researched it online. He wants to do a Disney Animal Kingdom theme in a spare room of his bungalow style home that he and his dad are renovating. I had these old sconces, and a few other items, so I'll be doing a few other Disney inspired projects for his home in the near future. So if you're a Disney fan, I hope you see them.
After sanding and cleaning them, I wiped them down with a tack cloth to remove any remaining dust before painting.
I painted on two coats of raw umber and let them dry overnight.
I measured 2" from the top and used a piece of paper to guide me along the sconces marking at the top and bottom of the paper. I measured 2" in between each section to make three sections.
I painted the drawn on sections with raw sienna.
I outlined each section with brown red, which looks copper to me. I also painted on, what I call doodle designs in each section. I also painted the bottom sections of the sconces.
Can you find the hidden Mickey's?
After letting the paint dry overnight, I brushed on the glaze one section at a time, and after a few minutes, I wiped it down with a lint free cloth. I waited until the next day and applied a coat of polyurethane.
All finished. My son really likes them. I hope ya'll enjoyed this redo.
