Help,please I am killing my plants!

Hello, my name is Linda. This is my first time trying this so please bear with me. I have been trying to grow a window I am killing my plantsgarden. I get excited to see my little pots of vegetable plant cuttings start to grow. I live in Canada,where it is quite cold,so we only have short seasons for growing things. I have tried to plant cut off of vegetables.They start to grow well and then they seem to wither up and dry out. I have tried not to water them so often and then I wondered if my soil was not right .Maybe you could give me some hints of what to try.I would appreciate it. Oh I am growing these plants in my veranda,which is heated and very sunny.

when starting from seed you need to use the recommended seed starting soil and seed pods,when they get big enough transfer to the next size container with drainage holes,water when dry to the touch with room temperature water,do no allow to sit in water.Lee in a well lit area until or if you choose to plant outdoors after the danger of frost
Possibly the water!!!! The salts in the water will build up as the water evaporates leaving the minerals behind. I have a DE humidifier in my basement, and use the product water from that, which is mineral free, to water my house plants, and spring starts for the garden, from Montana.
OR if it would not bother the root systems to much, change the media to "throw out" the mineral laden soil.
Heat is good - unless it is too hot. Sunny is good. When I start vegetables, I put my seed tray in another tray and water from the bottom. That way the soil stays fluffy for the little seeds to sprout. Maybe if you are using cuttings, it would be easier if they were started in water. When they grew roots, transplant them into a starting medium.
Most common reason for plant problems is watering, fertilizing, not giving the right type of light (direct light for plants that require indirect light). Do you have a moisture meter? These are great just put the wand into the soil and it lets you know if you need to water or not. They are less then $10 at places like Walmart of Lowe's. What type of soil do you plant in? Some people add used coffee grounds and crushed egg shell (egg shell in small amount only) sprinkled on top of the soil.
It could be the sun is too hot. You might try shading your plants during the hottest part of the day, from direct sunlight.
If you live in Canada or anywhere it is extremely cold and are placing your plants on the window sill it may be too cold right now. Back them off so they do not get any drafts but still get the light..
