I think a dark grey wood look great, but you need to get a color that would go with your shingles, can't tell what color they are in the picture.

Please make sure to use mineral paint. Regular paint will seal the brick, but brick needs to let moisture in and out. I got mine from Romabio. I had your color, did 'China Doll', color chip from Sherwin Williams. Romabio will match any color that you choose.

I don't think I would paint it honestly. That may make it look like a giant cinder block. I think I would add some wood, cedar maybe on that flat place near the door and much landscaping. A trellis to get some beautiful green vine against that brick. A beautiful paver path to give more visual interest. Doing the things yourself would probably come close to how much you'd spend on good paint and you wouldn't have to worry about chipping paint that you will have to paint again.

I would update in other ways. Painting the brick will decrease the re-sale value of the home. People buy brick as it never needs to be painted. This home is in need of landscaping. Foundation plantings would be a start. A brick terrace in the front. Some shutters.

We updated our brick home by adding stone accents to the building corners and around the front double door area, like they are using on new homes build today, was a great update.

Much better to put up shutters (You can change the colour so much easier) - Window Boxes - or Trellis and or change the colour of your front door. Landscape your garden with beautiful plants etc..... To paint the bricks would be foolhardy as it would become an annual job, and only stay nice for a very short time.

Painting brick with the wrong paint may result in peeling or blistering paint.

Looks to me the appearance would be more radically changed with landscaping... Why no foreground trees after (was that 30) years?

Well, my suggestion is that brick requires minimum maintenance. Painted brick, now requires repainting every 10 years or so. An idea is to drive around residential areas and see what others may have done.

I used a product called DyeBrick out of England that stains the brick. I used it 3 years ago and have not had any problems with it. It was easy to use, too. You can look at it on line. It was easy to order and came quickly

I agree with lisa. Painting brick is just wrong. I usually tell people to enjoy their home but it's not your bricks it's the dark window casing and dark roof shingles. But let's be honest I'm not encouraging or implying a new roif. But you can paint window casings and I can't even see your door from this picture nor actual color of bricks but some ting in a cream color would appear to go well. Also major landscaping. You have none. Start slow and remember that things grow and spread so plant according to directions. Add green shrubbery and then some bright planters with a color that you like flowers. Start that way and see if that doesn't cheer your house up.

My opinion is Paint the brick in a cream add some wood shutters nice front door and some much needed landscape. .but not up close to the house or hedges to predictable.

Bring in some color and maybe build out the porch

I think that would look beautiful. .Good Luck
