Staining and Etching Concrete Floors
There are now beautiful outdoor rugs available and affordable (i got a 8'x10' for $70 at a store called At Home.) For cleaning you just take them outside and hose them off.
If your floors are smooth and in good shape, vinyl strips (will look like hardwood) or peel and stick squares will soften the floor and just need mopping to clean. Simple DIY and fairly inexpensive depending on the tile you choose.
Sheet vinyl, easy to clean and no seams to deal with and relatively inexpensive.
