I know an excellent product that removes stains toilets and will probly work on your sink as well, however, the chrome drain may need to be replaced afterwards because I'm not sure what the product will do to it. It contains hydrochrolic acid. It is called SNOBOL, marketed by Brillo. After a hurricane brown water stained my toilet and staight bleach sitting for days did nothing, this stuff cleaned it up like new.

Easy Off No Fume Oven Cleaner in the BLUE can. Spray it on and let it liquefy. May need some scrubbing. Wear gloves. Rinse well. If this doesn't work the stain is permanent.

Try closing the drain and putting on baking soda, maybe a quarter of a cup and cover it with vinegar. Let it sit and work for a while. I know it cleans up around the drain in my aluminum sink when I put it down the drain to clean it. Follow with boiling or really hot water to rinse it all down the drain. See if that helps, its cheap and worth a try!

I have used white vinegar and a scrubber pad and then I have just discovered a fantastic polisher. ArmorAll Wipes. I am handicapped and my mobility scooter gets really grungy. I had tried all sorts of things but nothing really got it clean or kept it that way. This did the job and also I polished the kitchen stainless steel sink and the stove and fridge. It is just great and not expensive.
