my doors starts to fade and peal after about a year
To get the best finish on a metal exterior door clean any grunge or oil then sand it until it is dull and nothing is peeling. Clean it again.
Prime with an oil based primer. Spray primer or brushed on paint work about the same. Give it two coats and sand between. Then paint with an oil based paint using two or three coats, sanding lightly between.
Be sure to let the primer and paint dry completely between coats. This method takes time but you'll solve the problems that are happening and the door will look great!

If it is metal, try using Rustoleum products, they come in many colors and textures. We sprayed a few coats on our new screen door last year and it lasted through the heat and the freezing weather so far this winter and still looks good. Just make sure that you prepare the door before you paint it.

If you make your door purple, you have my entry door with the same problem. All of the suggestions of what paint to use are good ones. The paint is not the issue. Just like mine, inadequate preparation is to blame. Sand, clean, sand, clean, clean.
This may sound crazy but it has been the best idea ever given to us. We had to get a new door similar to yours and needed a new frame built. The handyman that came suggested to us to get our door painted at an auto body place using car paint. We ended up doing just that, it was cheap , got the color we wanted and our door has lasted 15 years. It still looks as good as the day it was hung. No fading, no chipping etc. It gets 6 hours of direct sunlight a day. Glad we took his advise.
