My husband builds furniture out of reclaimed barn wood. He always has scraps that he thinks are no longer useful... I think differently, Wine Racks anyone?
First I picked out cool pieces of barn wood and laid them out.
Once I got a design I liked I attached them together using wood glue and screws.
Depending on the design, sometimes
I use a piece of wood to attach them together.
I then dug out an old rake top and attached to my design.
I took another scrap piece and attached a shelf to hold a Wine bottle.
I attached different items to the shelf to prevent the bottle from rolling off.(a drawer pull, old molding, small insulators)
I then went to my bucket that has different treasures I salvaged over the years.
I added a hinge to one, an old latch lock to another and even just rope, they needed something to hang by.
I then sealed the whole piece, even the metal, with Kristi Kuehl Pure Home Paint and Finishes, Sable Glaze.
And Wallah.. unique wine racks.
