from when we bought our house the kitchen had great cabinets but was dark and there was no backsplash. So I white washed the cabinets and it brightened it up a lot but it was still missing the backsplash. So I made one! I used rough cut Latice boards, cut them with a miter saw in various length, stained them a dark walnut, used a construction glue to put them up, I also use the air gun to add extra hold. Once glue dried I used dark walnut wood putty to fill in any large gaps. Sealed the wood with a good satin poly. Included is the before, process, and after pictures
Before with bare wall.
Cut and staining various lengths of Latice boards.
Gluing and nailing up the boards. Using the various lengths gives feel of brick work.
Finished wall.

I too would like to know the color of these cabinets and if it's a mix of more than one color, how did you achieve it????

Did you apply the Wipe-On polyurethane after all the strips were on the wall?

I ask, due to the paint that shows through under slats periodically.

But I'm afraid I won't get a response back from you, as I've notice out of the 31 comments & questions, you've not replied to any of them.

    Regardless, it all looks fabulous:)
