Would you like to save time and money by purchasing plants that are well suited for containers and flower beds? I know I do! I live in Texas and my plants wear themselves right out in the Texas heat. So when I purchase my bedding plants I focus on these three things: Cost, versatility and longevity.icon Today I am sharing with you on how to save money, while choosing versatile plants that will bloom all Summer.

Cost:
I love to save money on my plants and one of the best ways to do that is to purchase a flat of plants. (Flats are typically long, narrow rectangles that hold 18 square 3 1/2-inch or 4-inch pots of flowers or plants.)icon Depending on where you purchase your flat of plants they can cost between $16.00-$30.00. Pretty cool, because that means you get a minimum of 18 plants for under $30.00! These plants seem small now, but they will grow!
* DON'T FORGET*
If you are using pots you will need to purchase potting soil and pots or use your pots from last year!icon

Versatility:
Usually you can mix and match flats of flowers, so that means you can pick out my top three Summer picks and create your own flat. If your nursery doesn't allow that, my suggestion is to purchase 3 different flats. Remember we are going to use these three versatile plants as bedding plants and also in our containers.
Longevity:
