I need to fill in nail holes in my wall where pictures were hanging. The wall is beige and I do not have or know the color of paint.

I use toothpaste to fill in nail holes but then I use furniture markers/crayons to color it to match the wall. It takes a little practice, but it can be hid with the colors.

Get a bunch of beige samples and find one that is the closest and then you can just get a small can and you will have it on hand to use whenever you need it to cover repairs. I have heard that the toothpaste does work really well for small holes.

  • You can cut away a small sample of the paint and take it to a paint store. They can match it. We did this in a bathroom....cut a small square near the floor,on the wall behind the door.

Add a little brown/beige acrylic paint to white spackle until it is close to the color of the wall. Dab it into the hole and sand lightly after it dries. You may have to do a second coat, adjusting the color until it is a good match

Try this. Fill with white toothpaste then using water color paint from the $ store, mix the shade you need. Try yellow and a bit of brown. Maybe a touch of blue. Experiment letting it dry on paper first. The color can always be rejuvenated with water.

When I am doing a client's home that is moving, I always bring a jar of basic white and some yellow, black and brown water colors in the tube to customize the white paint to match, and then use a little roller to apply it so it there is very little on it, and roll in every direction from the hole to blend out. Do the first hole, let dry to see if you matched your paint. A little of the water color goes a long way so start with tiny amounts

Wood filler is more permanent. Take a chip of the paint from a back corner to a reputable paint store or home improvement store. They can match any color and finish, using a computer. Then buy a quart of the paint, or less, if they will mix paint for smaller amounts. For larger areas, go ahead and repaint in beige or another color you like. You’ll brighten the room and your spirits. ☺️

Hello, You could use a non gel toothpaste to fill the holes but it wont colour the areas. you will have to re-paint when filler used is dry and has been sanded down.
