Toilet was not being flushed all the time - could this stain be uric acid? I have not been able to scrub it off.

Hello. It could be a mineral build up. I get this a lot having well water. I use a pumice stone on a stick and scrub the stains. It works well for me.

Lime Away didn't touch it. I have been using Soft Scrub which has taken a little bit of it off.

    Try plain old coke

Coke didn't touch it. That was my first try after regular toilet cleaners. I have been scrubbing it with Soft Scrub and have gotten a little bit of it off. I am leery to try the pumice stone.

Try pouring coke in the toilet and leaving it overnight.

Not seeing it, I would guess it's just rust from hard water. Turn the water to the toilet off and flush til there is no standing water in the bowl. Get some gloves, a small sponge, and some abrasive cleaner designed to remove rust. After scrubbing if the stain persists, try pouring alcohol over it and let it sit for about an hour before you turn the water back on.

well I guess its time for a new toilet...every method out there should have solved your issue,,,,have your water checked for a softener

We have a water softener. Actually it is more of a buildup then a stain.
