I have found that a Rustoleum spray paint called Platifusion is great for that, just make sure the surface you paint is very clean from any debri and other things like oils and such.

you will have to strip the exsisting finish with Citristrip a safe remover, clean any residue and re-paint with gianni or Rustoleum countertop restoration kits

    Sorry, Plastifusion, misspelled above.

Paint is peeling off means that the surface was not sufficiently prepared for the paint to get a "hold". If you paint over this you will have thicker paint peeling off.

I would sand it first to get rid of the peeling paint and have a surface the paint will hang on to and to smooth it off where it is peeling off or it will show. Use an undercoat before you paint.

    Hi Helen,

Yes, just rough it up with some sandpaper, paint on a coat or 2 of primer (like Kilz) then paint. You'll probably need 2 coats of paint. I'd also use a poly sealer to help it wear better - 2-3 coats or more if it's a highly used area. If it's a countertop, remember that you can't put anything hot on top of it. Always use trivets or some kind of hot pad to absorb the heat. I hope that helps. Wishing you the best.
