Have an old drawer laying around and just have no idea what to do with it? I debated for months on what to do with one of the drawers (yes one, I want tell you how many I have laying around haha). I decided to make something for my grandbabies books. I have three grandbabies and all three are girls so I wanted it to be “girly” and shabby chic!
Drawer Before
I gave the drawer a good cleaning with TSP. This stuff is amazing, it gets all the grime off! I then gave the entire drawer a coat of Rustoleum Linen White Chalk Paint.
I wanted a girly color so I used some of my home made chalk paint. The color was Tea Cup Rose so perfect for this project! When I applied the Tea Rose, I did not cover it completely. I wanted some of the white to show through for the shabby chic look.
I had a bag of furniture legs I bought for $2 from my local thrift store. I knew these would be perfect for the base! So I gave them a coat of white chalk paint.
Afer the legs dried, I hot glued them onto the bottom in each corner of the drawer. You can use screws, but I was being quick (after thinking about this I will probably have the Hubs screw the legs on).
I chose a beautiful flower knob that I had left over from a previous project. I also had a piece of scrap fabric that I cut and hot glued inside the drawer, because the bottom was an ugly, felt fabric yuck!
And here she is! Is’nt she a beauty! The girls will love it and it beats an ugly old book shelf! Happy crafting :-).
