Create an expensive looking chair without breaking your budget! A DIY boho chic faux fur chair makeover using a $15 thrifted chair and a dry brush weathered wood finish.
I purchased this chair a while ago from the thrift chair. I had no clue what I was going to do with it, but it was a deal at $29.99 for a pair. I had seen a beautiful faux fur chair that I wanted very badly for my office/craft room. Instead of breaking my room makeover budget for the chair, I decided to create my own boho chic faux fur chair instead.
I envisioned having a weathered chair for my office. I love the look of furniture with a history. My thrifted chair had so many layers of varnish and stain that I needed to sand the chair before making the weathered wood finish. I made sure to sand all the crevices and chair details as well. Then, I applied a dry brush technique with a barnwood paint/wax to give the chair a weathered wood appearance. I shared more on that tutorial on my blog post, which you can see here.
Then, I reupholstered the chair in a great quality faux fur that I purchased from Joann Fabrics with some additional coupons from my favorite sources (also on the same blog post). Doesn't this fur look so cozy?!
I must say, if you see my inspiration chair on my blog post you would see that the chair I wanted was over $300! I was able to create a similar chair for a mere $33! I'll be using this chair in my boho chic office/craft room makeover. The room reveal is next week, so be sure to stop by the blog for all the room reveals as part of the New Year New Room Refresh Challenge!
