I need to know how to clean my plantation blinds, they are filthy!

Are they made of faux wood or real wood, vinyl?
Plantation shutters? or blinds that go up and down with a string release?
Any type of blinds can be cleaned outside by removing them first, laying them flat, then scrubbing with a good grease cutting cleaner (diluted liquid dishwasher soap works well). Rinse well with a spray nozzle on the garden hose.
If you can take them down, you can wash them in your bath really thoroughly!
