Stuck Shower head .....help!

Is there any way to get a really stuck shower head off the pipe? It has probably been there a good many years. It will not unscrew and I am reluctant to try any harder as I am afraid of breaking the plumbing pipes. I want to replace it with a hand held shower head.

Look at the shower head meets the pipe. Is it covered in white stuff? If it is, put vinegar in a baggie and tie it on so that the whole area is covered and let it soak a long time and see if it them comes loose.
Get a bottle of CLR at Walmart. Poor in baggie and tie it on so all of shower head is covered. Let soak for hour or so. This is what I use to clean shower head when the flow of water has slowed down.
If those ideas don't work. Apply WD40 a couple of times. Then 2 pipe wrenches to break the calcium buildup. 1 to hold the pipe in place and the other to unscrew the fitting, head or coupling.
I do this all the time for disabled clients, did one this week, I put a wash cloth over the pipe and use channel lock pliers right where the shower head meets the shower pipe. The white stuff you see if teflon tape that will prevent leaks when you put your new shower head on, I suggest you put new tape on, 3-4 turns of tape. When selecting your hand-held I would choose one that has a water on/off button on the shower head itself so you can control it while seated.

try WD40 spray it on and let it sit for a little while
