Make a Love Note for Your Valentine

I know it's cliche, but it really is the little things that count when it comes to showing our love and support. Putting an encouraging note in your child's lunch or leaving a message of love on your spouse's pillow, will make them feel special this Valentine's Day, in a way no expensive gift could.

You will need, a sheet of scrapbook paper, some card stock, a heart embellishment, Valentine confetti (optional), thin two-sided tape, a glue stick and some scissors.

You can make your envelope any size but I liked the idea of a small envelope for this project and cut the scrapbook paper 7 1/4 - inches long by 5 1/4 - inches wide.

Fold the scrapbook paper so that there is about an inch left at the top for a flap.

Now unfold the paper and turn the long edge over on the inside about half an inch on both sides, all the way down the length of the paper. Use a glue stick or some craft glue to stick the side edges down.

Refold and glue the sides of the envelope together.

To make your flap look more like the flap of an envelope, cut a small corner off of it on an angle. Use the cut piece to measure how much to cut on the other side so the two cuts are even.

Now that you have a finished envelope, you need a message to put inside.

You can write your love note on a plain piece of paper and fold it to fit inside, or...

Make a mini card. In order to fit into the envelope, cut the card stock to measure about 2 3/4 - inches by 2 1/4 - inches and fold it in half.

Decorate your mini card any way you wish and write your personal message on the inside. Throw in a small amount of Valentine confetti, if you like.

You could use a sticker to seal the envelope, but if you don't want it to tear the envelope when it's opened, use an embellishment that you can add a piece of two-sided tape to. Stick the two-sided tape on length-wise, so that it will catch the flap and just beneath the flap.
