Is it safe electrically to put a plastic grocery bag in a shredder to make it easier when emptying? I don't want to start a fire because it's plastic and plugged in??

I use these bags about 70% of the time and have had no issues over the past 3 years.

I use plastic bags in mine to catch cuttings, without problems. If you are still concerned, go online and find the make/model of your shredder and see if they have further info.

Are you talking about a paper shredder? If so the plastic would most probably melt before it would catch on fire. Just monitor it when using and for a short time after.

yes it’s not shredding the bag or even finding a box that fits the shredder and get rid of the box when it’s full

Putting plastic thru a paper shredder is not a good idea. Look for places that use plastic grocery bags to make things like rugs and donate to them.

some shredders come with plastic bag hooks built in, I can't see any reason to not use a plastic liner bag

l would not put the plastic into the shredder as it will clog the blades, get hot and possibly burn out the motor.

I am not putting it into the shredder to be shred, I am using it as a catch for all the shredded papers. It would make life easier just to grab the bag instead of turning it over into one and getting flying confetti all over. Everyone who answered this said they have been doing it forever.
