I think you'll be looking for less pattern but something with flecks of tan and light gray, probably manmade, light in color, unless you paint cabinets, even if it's just the uppers. Do only the countertop, then add a striking tile backsplash. Most stores have a design person available. Change old lightbulbs for LED warm white for better overall lighting. Instead of the gray stools, add an accent color, mint green, emerald, red, turquoise, etc...whatever goes with your house. Have fun!

I think it look beautiful as it is but if you want a pop of color why don't you do something with your stools? I bet it would be cheaper unless your countertop needs to be replaced. Also I cannot tell from the picture but Lowes or Home Depot now sells lighting that can be very easily installed underneath your cabinets which would really brighten your kitchen up.

As far as your stools that would depend on your budget. If your kitchen opens into your family or living room you could perhaps pick out a color that you have in the family or living room and have the seats of the stool covered in that color. I see that someone else has suggested that you have them painted which is a great idea as well. I really like your kitchen. We have very similar taste but now that I am seeing yours I pretty much need to put a l"pop" of color in mine.

Your kitchen is industrial theme right and with your floor and counter tops those do pare well together, I think a off white paint along back splash and over the cuboarFS would use a light gray paint to add contrast, and add spot lighting under the counters. The stool seem to be to large and are bar stool size and the end no back bar stool you can omit one there, looks out of place. If it’s not in your budget for new stools then I would spray paint them in a brown tone to match the cupboards and add a pinstripe gray and white fabric to the seats because the medal just draws to much attention to them. Not ready to change cabinets yet. Backsplash and countertops doesn’t look nice together to me. We would like to keep the backsplash. So I was looking for countertops that would lightening kitchen and compliment backsplash.

You"re correct, you need color on the counters. A red would look great with floor, cabinets & backsplash. I'd go with a cool red, one with a blue undertone. Do you have any more backsplash tile to finish the splash to bottom of cabinets? If not, add a hammered stainless to blend with appliances etc. You may even find sheets of the stainless with self stick backing!

Thanks. We do plan to finish adding the rest of blacksplash tile. That red sounds good, but I’m looking for something a little more relax. In future I plan to change cabinets to a grey or grayish cream. To grow with my age
