Heated sidewalk to melt snow?

I need to replace my sidewalk. It's broken and seems to be sinking. I'm hoping there's a simple way to imbed something like those pipe heating strips so I could flip a switch when I let the dogs out and have a cleared path by the time I'm dressed and ready to head off to work. The sidewalk slightly slopes downhill and I've nearly slipped, between the packed snow and the downward angle. I really don't want to have a small step to keep the sidewalk level and I never plan shoveling time into my morning schedule. Got any ideas, smart and innovative hometalkers?

Yes. Since you are going to need a concrete flatwork contractor to replace your sidewalk, ask a concrete flatwork contractor. You won't see a lot of homes with this feature because it is expensive to install and expensive to run.

As for removing the slope but not replacing with a step or two, that depends entirely on your site. I know of no way to change elevation without one or the other. Please do let us know if you find something that works because it would make headlines.
