This is a story of re-purposing. Here we repurpose a picture, a window covering, a florescent diffuser, and add to a display case. Seems I'm just not happy until I get it right. I think I'm closer now, come take a look-see.......
It all started out when the boyz (grown men) said the sun was blinding them through the western window. I'm sure it was, because I had removed the hated mini blinds, and had yet to put something in place of those nasty, dust-ridden blinds. So I went out and secured a lovely piece of glass, complete with frame, and did the Glass Gallery stained window project I had in mind. It was beautiful. I called it, "Native Americans".
Ack! icon But when I hung it in front of the window, it was WAY too large, and was just simply out of place. I didn't have a place for my creation, and despaired upon finding any solution to this issue!!!! Ack! Ack! icon
We have two display cases; they used to be fish tanks, and now they hold my lovelies within so that I don't have to dust them! Hmmmmm, I wonder, I just wonder if....the stained glass picture would fit in here? Turns out it would! icon All I had to do was make sure there was light behind the glass to enhance it's beauty! All-righty then, let's do this!
I took down my 30 feet of fairy lights. (must order more from amazon!) Those lights were perfect on the stairway wall, to guide the puppies upstairs, without blinding us in bed........icon
I had 4 foot florescent lights in the kitchen that were changed out into four foot LED lights. I kept the disfusers, because, you know, you just don't throw anything away. I have two on top of the display cases, and the other two were outside over the kayaks. Brought one in! Used the 0.5 lb. Command hangers to hang this light disfuser.
Using more Command hangers, I wove 30 feet of fairy lights back and forth to create lighting behind the stained glass pic.
Then I hung the diffuser over the lights.
I had emptied the display case and cleaned it prior to putting the stained glass in. I had to use a hacksaw to cut the middle rib so that I could put the glass in. Hubby said I didn't need the rib since we weren't using water........
I put a piece of double sticky backed tape in the upper corners of the glass, to keep it from falling forward in the case.
This is with the LED lights that I have on the inside rim of this display case.
I turned on the fairy lights, added my wolf pack, and sat back. This is good. Found a home for my too big stained glass picture! icon
Oh, and that window with the blinding sunlight that was killing the boyz for all of 10 minutes? I had a bath towel with a tear in it; I trimmed the towel and with a tension rod, hung the towel. I'll work on that later! icon

Beautiful stained glass picture! You found the perfect fit for it. The display looks magnificent. And the towel on the window....acceptable. Does the job.

Thank you, William...(bows low...) all I really needed was a rich person with a huge front window. Where the hell are they?

Well....I loathe dusting! But it's a necessary evil around here with 7 dogs and 2 men! I found that putting the pretty things in a display meant all I had to do was dust the tops! Now I'm trying to think out a way to plexiglass or cover my book shelves. I never knew books collected so much dust! Arugh!
