We created this really quick DIY planter the other day to use with a plant in our living room, but I think it would be perfect for outdoors too when we all start filling our planters with colorful annuals in a few weeks. Actually, considering how quickly this one came together, I might have to persuade Chris to help me make a few more for the deck too!
For the planter we cut a bunch of pieces of wood that were all the same size, along with a piece for the base, stacked them together like a little log cabin and then used the nail gun to secure everything together.

We used 1×2 pine and cut our pieces to about 12″ long, but the construction of this is so simple that you can easily make this any size you like just by cutting your pieces a little longer or shorter.
We stained it with good a darker stain, but it would definitely look great with a lighter stain or maybe a bit of a grey wash if you like the look of the “raw wood” trend. Since our floors are already that color, the darker stain contrasts nicely.

This planter took almost no time to throw together, like maybe 30 minutes, tops but I just love the look of it. It’s got a nice textural element to it that’s a little modern but that also works really well with some of the other rustic farmhousey type of stuff like I like to have in our home.
