There is a debonders that you can find by the glues. I am not sure if it will change the fabric, so you should check a spot out of sight. The black may be from collecting dirt or something when it was still sticky.
It would be helpful to know what the glue is on. Some products will mar the thing it's stuck on.
If the surface can be cleaned with acetone, that will remove that type of glue.

Acetone - you can get acetone nail polish or just soak his fingers in warm water & pick at it. Best to you.
