Hi there Hometalk Friends! There's just something about conversation heart candy that takes me back to school Valentine parties. Do you have similar memories? I decided to recreate the childhood favorite but instead of painting them the traditional pastel shades I used black and white for a touch of farmhouse style. Ready to make your own?
First, you’ll need wooden hearts. If you’re a thrift store shopper, you may find some you can upcycle with paint, or you can find some here!
I painted some of my hearts with white chalk paint. Find it here!
For those, I used a fine point Sharpie marker to add messages like those you see on conversation hearts. If you prefer, you can trace the letters with a pencil first, then fill in with the Sharpie. TIP:  If you want to display your conversation hearts year round, paint both sides so a different message can be added after Valentine's Day.
For the other hearts, I used black chalkboard paint so the message can be changed as often as you like! Try using a white pencil instead of chalk for small lettering. It stays on better than chalk but can still be wiped off with water. TIP: For a sweet gift, personalize the back of the heart with a personal valentine message!
