When I was thinking about what to submit as my valentine project, I of course went right to my pallet wood stash and then a quick visit to my local Michaels, with a 60% off coupon in hand, and this is what happened.
I gathered my materials.
I cut three pieces of pallet wood to a size that would accommodate the store bought heart.
Sanded the pallet wood smooth.

With my staple gun, on the back side of the pallet wood, I fastened the three pieces together with two paint sticks, that I had trimmed to fit.

Originally, I was going to add some paint; but decided to use colored wire instead, for my blast of color, which you will see shortly.

I envisioned the heart acting as the "O" in the word LOVE. but how to attach the wire? So I decided to use my small tack nails and treat the wire almost like "string" art.
To get the right spacing on the lettering, I sketched the letters out on a blank piece of copy paper. There was some trial and error here, but that's why erasers were invented. Right?

I then carefully hammered in the nails (you can see the dots where I plan on placing the nails). I have to admit this took longer than I thought it would; but the end result was worth the time.
When I started adding the wire I had to wiggle it in and out of the nails, because it wouldn't stay put. Not my original plan, but I think it gave the wire additional depth.
Next step: Remove the pattern. It was pretty easy to remove the pattern paper, since the nails perforated the paper.
And here is the final project, hanging outside my front door. I LOVE trying new techniques, or shall I say old techniques in a whole new way.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Happy crafting.

Don't you just love Tin? It is so neat and yet keeps the project small. Will be looking at the rest of your projects. I think you and I are "love good junk" people.
