How to repair holes in a metal front door

Previous home owners hung curtains over the oval glass opening in the metal front door. Now there are holes in the door. How do I repa these holes so I can apply a fresh coat of paint?

Bad homeowners. In my state, you're not allowed to remove anything that is screwed in as this rod was. However, you can repair it with metal bonding filler. Click the link below to see how to do it safely. Wishing you the best.

Use bondo for car repairs. You add a tiny bit of one from a tub to a good dab from the jar/can and mix thoroughly; then push it into the hole and trowel a bit over the hole let dry and sand, when you get it flush, paint. It's just like holes in sheetrock only you have to use a different product.
Auto body filler as Mesqlouise2u suggest or a two part epoxy putty.
Car bondo then sand.. and paint . Utube it to show you how.
