Adding Wood Stairs

We recently replaced the carpet in our room above the garage (my husband's Mancave) with wood. The carpet on the stairs was the next thing to go. It took about four weekends from raw wood to the finished product. We're thrilled with the results!
We used walnut to match the existing floor on the main level.
Because the landing is halfway up the stairs and involves a 90 degree turn, my husband came up with this pattern so the landing looks great from either direction.
There were lots of intricate cuts to make it perfect.
We are so happy with the new look!
The old carpet wasn't horrible, but we wanted to be consistent with wood between the two areas.

Is this original stair case then you took off carpet? I want to remove carpet off of stairs but am scared of what will be there. I would love to paint them. My husband not. Yours looks beautiful and your husband idea is awesome.

Very nice workmanship. Much prefer wood to wall-to-wall. Looks expensive, easier to clean, doesn't show wear patterns (at least for a long, long, time). You saved a LOT of money doing this work yourself. Maybe a new bar fridge, or such, for the man cave will be in order? lol
