Yes, congratulations! Well, it's getting down to the wire and nearing time to relax and simply take care of yourself, preparing for this next stage of your life! =))) I may be able to help with some specific ideas as well, but it would help me to have a little more detail. Are you looking for decor for the reception or the ceremony? What kind of building or space will it be held in (size-ish mostly)? What do YOU like? What makes YOU feel special, or at peace or joyful? Candles? Is there a special song or quote or idea or reflection that is important to you or you & your fiance? It looks like you love butterflies and hearts so that's helpful! Do you have a pile of materials you can work with or a small budget?

    Anxious to hear back! =))

Hi, I put the attached together for my sons baby shower from a cheap vase, garden stones, dowel from hardware or craft store and a poof from the party store.. total $3.00 ea. Everyone loved them! They where tall so no ones view was obstructed... and the poofs come in a million different colors. We mixed up pinks and whites and the theme was Welcoming a new little bird to the nest. Have fun!!!

recycle wine bottles as centerpieces or table decorations. You can paint them, glitter them, stain them, decoupage them, personalized them etc. The results are endless. You can put battery operated lights in them, put flowers in them as a vase or put candles in them.

Paper flowers look beautiful for wedding decorations.

  • If you have chosen a butterfly theme repeat the theme often. Do you have centerpieces? Making them out of mason jars or painted clear glass with a pink and blue butterfly attached to jute would look beautiful. Using butterflies sparingly on a cake or using your banner behind a sweet table would again pull in the theme and make your DIY wedding look more like a professional designer came in to help you.

Ikea has lanterns and candles and the lace curtains are cheap and huge to use as tablecloths or throw them over a rolling chalkboard then use a doorhanger over on chalkboard on top of curtains and hang big pictures. Walmart has 24x36 frames for $20 and will blow up a picture for $20. Hit thrift stores or friends for pretty serving dishes

I saw an arch made up of white balloons. There were several tied together in clusters, not sure what was used as a base but you couldn't see it. Bouquets of balloons could float over or behind dinner tables. Colored balloons could be spaced intermittently in the white base to follow your color scheme. Don't know anything cheaper (less expensive) than balloons. You can buy a helium tank at one of the "party stores" to save time. Congrats, wish you luck & happiness. Don't forget to post some photos to show what you decided on.

I am currently in the process of making things for my daughter's wedding.

Have made daisy's and calla lily out of tissue paper, wire, and hot glue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqZ2mlZYPEA

You can buy a $1 shower curtain/table cloth and cut into strips to make pompoms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMSwASSGkhg

We hit the local Habitat Stores and good wills. Got picture frames, chandelier, candle holders, little baskets, & jars and spray painted them all silver (the color in her wedding)

Balloon trees are cheap and easy to make.

    Flower pots painted.

Don't forget to ask friends and neighbors to let you borrow things. You'll be surprised what they may offer. My daughter's cake is being made by my best friend, Her Grandmother and Fiance's step mom is making and serving food, My sister is printing the invitations. It has become a group effort.

    Good Luck!!

Don’t do it! Go to Dollar tree for nice flowers, vases, etc. Stick with a set color schem.

i have done two thing. Over a pole in the room or what ever you have to deal with, wrap clear Christmas light around it, buy netting and wrap over it, buy a can of clear aheasive and spray the netting with sparkle stars. It is beautiful. Also can use on trees, arches.

  • Mzs22248037 Mzs22248037 on Feb 03, 2018

I should have said after the spray sprinkle with stars or whatever you want. Bunch the netting kinda thick so it kinda of hides the wire. Just work with iT.

Also, bought biscritters melted chocolate and dipped them half way, sprinkled with crushed nuts.Nothing is better than a platter of biscuits with ham piled high with condiments beside it. Buy large cans of of different nuts and sprinkle with what ever you like. If it's night, use lots od clear lights everywhere. Pickles, olives, buy in large quantities, save money, a few cheeses on a cutting board with crusty bread and crackers. Look at mag pic.

Buy clear glass bowls at the dollar store and insert glass beads and a goldfish for a unique centerpiece! Add one or two long stemmed flowers. Not only gorgeous but something to look at between food courses!

Very good tips! You will be celebrate at home?

  • DeAnna DeAnna on May 23, 2018

Put lace around mason jars as a stencil, then lightly spray with spray paint in your color choice. Remove the lace after paint has dried, tie ribbon around top of jar put about an inch of colored sand in jar, place candle in jar. Make several and use as centerpieces on tables.

We also want to celebrate at home. But we also want to go to another country to make wedding ceremony there. How do you think it is good idea? I read that we can do this for example in Denmark( link), it is simple and fast. I like this country very much. Did either of you do this?
