wrap the faucet with a towel soaked in white vinegar
I have well water that tastes wonderful, but has a tremendous amount of calcium carbonate, which causes so-called hard water. It is a never-ending battle with those deposits on things. I use just plain, full-strength white vinegar in a spray bottle, or one can lay a washcloth on and around the faucets and pour the vinegar on and let it just sit-n-soak. Vinegar is cheap and I have never found anything that it harms when used full-strength.
