What to do about Rust like residue on hinges?

Hello all,
I did the crock-pot overnight to clean the several layers of paint on the hinges from my kitchen cabinets. the paint it come off wonderfully well.. however, next day noticed a dust like residue of looks like rust on hinges and screws.
this does dust off.... BUT what do I do before using these hinges to put the cabinets doors back on.. do I need to use a sealer ?? or is dusting them enough...

UUse a sos pad on it, it well help to remove the rust. Then dry it very well.
Oil the genes before putting them on.
Dip them in CLR , then rinse and dry with hair dryer.
Use some WD40 to clean them off.

thank you Lynn, have had a few responses and yours and to use WD40 will be ones I will be trying.. finishing painting all the 24 cabinet doors this coming week and then hope to have the hinges ready to install the doors.. thank you for your help.
