Dining Room Marble Table Top- how can I brighten?

I have a marble table top (similar to below). It is just too dark & blah. Is there any way to brighten this piece of furniture, perhaps even give it a Tuscan or farmhouse rustic look?

If this is genuine marble, you should take this table to a consignment shop or donate it at a Habitat Restore then purchase the table that you really want. If this is a marble paint treatment over wood then you should paint it the way you want. Pinterest will have a lot pf photographs of farmhouse tables.

You could paint the legs a lighter color, something that would blend with the veins in the marble. But I would not paint over real marble. Besides covering a valuable piece of stone you'll most likely have problems getting and maintaining a finish that will stand up to the wear and tear of a dining table. If you don't want to paint just the base, then I agree with Ken, donate it or sell it on Craig's List.

*have you tried a decent creamed coconut oil,& microfibre cloths?~ always use small amounts & rub in circles, both ways ( so you are polishing).. however it does much more than just clean & protect,& once a wk use for a month shows ‘the differences’ though you ought to get immediate results... ( take pix in progress if you like:)

FACT: Good graded coconut creamed oil can be used on almost everthing,& is natural, so when i polish my leather in my Alfa i never worry as all looks & stays beautiful for longer...

(try a sample area... good luck with what ever you choose:)

I'd paint the black wood white, with a little antiquing and make sure I had white accessories on the table with maybe a pop of red or yellow. That would be a lot easier than ruining a good piece of marble.

Just leave it as it is. And use a toothpaste and soft cloth to polish the lovely marble gently. Take your time and see the wonder.

Leave the table and lighten the chairs
