Valentine's day is just another day in our household. Perhaps I ruined it by not liking chocolate or maybe it's because the "holiday" is geared more towards women. Either way we don't do much other than maybe a nice dinner at home. Since we don't buy into the whole roses and chocolates thing I decided to do something out of the box for my husband this year. I made him this Super Hero Comic Book Sign. I went to the craft store and purchased the wooden heart sign that I painted white with red edges. The comic book I also got locally . We love Deadpool in our house since he's the anti-hero and more adult like, plus I knew the Valentine's edition from last year would not disappoint. The best part about this is you can literally use any comic book or super hero you want. These are a great way to decorate a child's room or give as a gift to that special person in your life.
Supplies:
Wooden sign
Acrylic paint
Comic book
Scissors
Mod Podge
Paintbrush
Using the acrylic paint colors paint the wooden sign. I painted the front a frosted white and the edges in red. Allow to fully dry, about 30 - 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, cut out the comic book pictures and phrases you want to use.
Align the pictures onto the sign to determine preferred placement.
Carefully glue the back of the pictures. The edges will slightly curl. Place the pictures onto desired location on the sign. Press firmly to release air bubbles and ensure full adhesion. Continue with all remaining cut outs. Brush a thin layer of Mod Podge on the top of the pictures making sure to go past the edges. This will create a seal.
I love how this turned out! It's the kind of Valentine's Day gift my husband won't be disappointed with. Also, the possibilities are endless since you can create a collage with multiple pictures layering each other, use printed personal pictures, or allow the kids to create their own.
