Try adding a cup of vinegar to your wash cycle. It may help to dissolve and wash away some of the minerals and salts deposited on clothing from road spray.
maybe if you said what the jacket is made of ?Possibly a answer could be given
you May have to dry clean the coat.
Try spraying it with 409 cleaning spray then wash it. I use it for everything I need to pre-wash spray. Good luck.
I would soak the jacket over nite first, then let this soak in a cleaner. I have the best luck with 409, spray this on, and then let it soak, and then scrub this in. You may have to do this, a couple of times, but it will work. There is something about soaking overnight, that really works. Best wishes, J.
I forgot to mention vinegar, for this too is a very strong cleaner. . with the 409.
Scrubbing with bar soap will often take stains out too. sometimes it takes doing all the above. I usually use the hand soap first. Do NOT use a complexion soap as it tends to have oils in it for skin care. In addition, I would evaluate how you approach your car and how you get in and out in order to see if there isn't something that you can do to avoid getting the stains on your coat. Get a long handled ice scraper- really long!! My hubby got one for me. Park so you can open your door all the way so that you can back up and sit in the seat of your car without touching the grime.
No, you are fine, live where you choose. This is just the joy of the winter states. Each state is diff., tho the forecast is diff., and not always accurate for each state. Even FL gets a huge amount of rain, and storms, compared to other years. The Carolinas really get severe storm damage, so there is a minus no matter what state you are in. plus lots of plus's. Just remember, to wear a dark color in the winter, and use a car wash weekly, to eliminate the salt damage to your car. The salt does alot of harm, in decaying. This has been a very diff. winter, so it is almost over, so spring will soon be coming forth. I have spring daffidils coming up, at this time, and it is 15 temp. in TN. So, just be ready for changes, and you will be fine. Happy days ahead, J.
Carol, today we had 22, and high will be 44, so that is still cool, tho this is still Feb. When Apr. comes, then we will all be blessed, and thrilled. The seasons are really changing so much, and it maybe the axes of the earth, or of the fumes of the chemical co., it could be alot of things. Be wise, and take care of yourself. There is a huge amount of flu this yr., so be extra careful and don't get chilled. Enjoy your days, everyday, and keep on smiling, ok? Spring is coming !!! Judy.
Oh Carol, I have the same problem when I am getting stuff out of the trunk of my car. I am a little taller than you are, but still it happens. I went to the dollar store and bought one of their small $1 blue tarps that I keep in the back of my car. I can easily pull it out far enough to protect my clothes when needed and it also provides a protection for the floor of my trunk. Maybe that would be a solution for you. It shakes off easily and can be hosed off if needed and allowed to dry.
You are very welcome, Carol!
