What kind of paint should i use to paint my kitchen cupboards

Sand, or de gloss. Use a good primer, and I have used oil based paint. Used four coats once. Years later still looks good

Enamel, or a paint specifically for cabinets.

i have used a deglosser, primer and paint with great success on more than one kitchen. If you are going to use the same hardware just be sure to number and bag your hardware for each door.

i have been successful with both Sherwin Williams and a couple different brands of chalk paint. It is an inexpensive and easy fix to change the look of your kitchen.

I am considering chalk paint.

I just used chalk paint to to-do mine and they turned out beautifully!! I cleaned them very well with TSP, then applied two coats of primer, then two coats of chalk paint. After that was all done I sanded the flat fronts VERY lightly with a 400 grit sanding block (it makes them silky smooth) then sealed with two coats of clear, water-based satin polycrylic. They look absolutely amazing!!! I used white on the top ('Linen White' in Rustoleum Chalked paint, a bright white), and a very light aqua color ('Sea Salt by Wise Owl) on the bottom. It took about four days of work, but I couldn't be happier with how they turned out!

I have had to become the handy"man" around here and I learned a lesson. For outdoors or ANYTHING that would get hard use.. stairs, cabinets... OIL based paint is worth ALL the hassle of it. You of course must paint when you can have the windows open and a little fan going for ventilation. Yes, you have to hassle with the mineral spirits for clean up. But you will never regret it. Oil based. Trust me.
