I love my job! Refinishing furniture to make it new again is more than just a passion, it is my purpose! This table needed a fresh new look and I didn't want to paint over the "leather" middles. Mod podge to the rescue! I had just came across a fab old music book from the early 1900's full of pages ready to be reused. First, I removed the hardware and painted the table with Southern Honey Chalk Paint in Blanche (it saves time to paint first because you don't have to be careful around the mod podge application). I painted the drawer in Otis because I wanted the drawer to stand out instead of just blending in. I decided where and how the music sheets needs to be cut and payed them out where they needed to go. Next, I applied mod podge to the areas I wanted to place the music sheets and placed them where I wanted them. It is important to allow that to dry first before applying the top coat to avoid bubbles. After it was dry, I applied the mod podge to the entire top surface because mod podge acts as a perfect sealer to protect your furniture! I then applied wax to the bottom surfaces to protect it and reapplied my hardware. Now, we have a brand new table with character for someone's home!
This is the before picture! Definitely needed some love!
A new idea for music sheets!
