Have you heard of IOD? Iron Orchid Designs? They have a wide array of stamps, molds and transfers. I just had to try this crafting craze and chose to start with a transfer.
Here it is in the finished state but let me run you thru quickly how I created this vintage look. There is also in depth information on my blog post linked at the bottom.
I found a nice sturdy artist frame in my stash and painted the frame with Fusion Mineral Paint in dark grey called ash and warm white called raw silk. I highlighted the inner white edge with Fusion silver metallic paint.
I turned a 11X14 piece of clear glass into a faux mercury glass mirror using Krylon looking glass spray, water & vinegar then painted over it in the dark grey for depth. It really looks like an aged antique mirror, right?
Then the IOD French transfer was rubbed onto the front side of this "mirror" with the rubbing tool included in the box. The glass was inserted in the frame, secured with glazing points to secure it well. A saw tooth hanger was added and the French wall art is ready to hang.
