Easy $2 Couch Table

I have been buying so much discount lumber from Home Depot. It's an addiction. I love making things out of flawed wood. The fact that it's 70 percent off makes me love it even more!

I saw a plan for a couch table on the internet, but I wanted something that was easier to make. I wanted fast and simple. Here's what I came up with.
Go to Home Depot and get some discount wood. I love that place. It's a serious addiction. The employees know my kiddos by name. Lol.

I used 2 pieces of 2x6s. Your measurements may vary, depending on your couch size. PS- I asked an employee to cut the pieces for me at the store. They'll cut your wood for FREE. I'm a huge fan of saving time and energy.
Here's a look at the piece before we put them together.

We needed-
-1 piece for the top- This piece is as long as the back of our couch is.
-2 piece for the legs. These are as tall as our couch, minus one inch.
-2 small pieces for the corners (These provide more support)
We actually had to cut our top piece, to fit into our car, and then we screwed it back together once we got home.
Here's a look at the corner, before we screwed it together.
Make sure to rest the top piece on the "legs"
Here's a view from another angle.
Here's a look after it was put together. It's going to be hiding behind the couch, so we didn't try to make it look pretty from this angle.
Then, stain it and spray it with a waterproof finish. You could always paint it. Just be sure that your finish is waterproof, especially if you will be using it for drinks. We used a spray polyurethane with a matte finish for ours.
Then, plop it behind your couch. I love, love, love this thing. It comes in handy for drinks when we have company. It's also great for extra photo frames.
Here's the view from the top. I love how simple this looks.

It's a minimalist sofa table. Great for tight spaces.

Love this. It’s exactly the type of sofa table I want. Uncomplicated and looks fairly easy. Just right for a couple of long thin baskets filled with plants. Wish me luck and thank you.
