Tomatoes need really big pots to allow for good root and plant growth to produce fruit. Most hanging pots are not big enough for that. Even patio tomatoes need a big pot. I put a patio early girl tomato in a big pot last year and the plant reached five foot high. I have seen where people have advertised using the upside down bags for tomatoes with success, but you hay have to hang then pretty high to allow for growth. It will probably need more watering to provide enough moisture when it is hot, I sometimes watered my potted tomato twice a day when it was real hot.

I hung them upside down in a 5 gal. bucket. Hardly had to water them because the rain went in to the bucket and kept the soil moist. I just stuck the roots in to a small hole and covered with dirt. I hung them on a plant hanger. They did great. Oh, and you don’t have to fill the bucket with dirt. Half full is plenty enough dirt.

No. I used Topsy Turvy one year and not only didn't I have many tomatoes, but the ones I did get were small and didn't taste good. I think it's because I couldn't keep them watered accurately. Maybe you will have better luck.

several times, there's even a 'topsy turvy' tomato sold online. The only problem I have are birds needing nest material. Chicken wire is your friend ;)

We tried the Topsy Turvey one year also....had tomatoes but they were small and not too many.....tasted okay but nothing like the in-the-ground plants.
