I would use a high-heat paint. Check your local hardware/DIY store.

Mariasesko, If you are talking about the covers for the free standing hot water radiators, you can use any good latex paint. I would suggest using a gloss or semi-gloss so it would be easy to dust. Flat latex would be harder to keep clean, dust would stick to it.

You can use any kind of wood you want. If you plan just to finish the wood a hardwood like maple or oak would look great. If you plan to paint pine would be fine and a lot cheaper that hardwood. Do not use plywood as it can warp and shred. You can use a good latex acrylic paint. Make sure you prime with a stain blocking primer.
You don't have to worry about the temperature. Paint this with anything that you would also use to paint a nightstand.
You're welcome!
